The Mona Lisa by the famous renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci is the most famous and recognized painting on the earth. Its famous for its great simplicity, painting style, the mysterious smile etc.

This painting is also known as La Gioconda. Its a half sized portrait of a woman named Lisa Gherardini. She was the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. This was an oil painting on poplar panel created between 1503 and 1506.

He was one of the most acclaimed painters in Italy during his lifetime. Botticelli’s father was a tanner and he was initially trained as a goldsmith. We know very few information about his early life. He was not too much known for centuries after his death. But in Italian renaissance he was one of the most individual painters. He got his posthumous reputation in late 19th century when a group of artist in England rediscovered his paintings.
